Stayed here as a family, one room with a double and 2 singles for the kids. We all absolutely loved it & the staff could not have been more accommodating. On arrival we were greeted at the bar, grabbed some drinks & ordered food to our room that came really fast and was delicious. We got back late after watching a show but were able to sit in the marquee for more drinks and outstanding food. All the staff were friendly & helpful & made a fuss of the kids. The beds were comfortable, the room had everything we needed and shower gels etc all provided. We will definitely return for a longer stay.
Had a lovely weekend away here in October unsure of what all the bad reviews are about.
Me and my boyfriend stayed here over a sunny weekend in October. Check in and check out was easy and it felt like a home away from home. The location is perfect being right in the centre of York! And lovely outdoors area by river to sit in the evening.
The rooms are a bit outdated but clean and fully functional. Felt safe in the room and the staff were very friendly.
If I ever was to return to York again I would definitely return to this hotel.
A stone’s throw from all the amenities in York city centre, the room was cozy and spotless, with an immaculate en-suite (honestly cannot understand the bad reviews!) and a large window bringing lots of light in. I slept like a log for a good 9 hours!
If I have to recommend an area for improvement, I’d say the mattress was a touch “springy” – might be an idea to consider some padding under the bedding 😉
Will definitely return again when in town!
My friends and I have eaten at the Watergate 3 lunchtimes recently. The food is excellent from a mainly Italian menu, generous portions and reasonably priced in an expensive city. the premises need to publicise their menu more as we only found it by chance.
